JT Hand, President & CEO of The York Water Company (NASDAQ: YORW) announced today that The York Water Company has closed on the acquisition of the water distribution system in the Pine Run Retirement Community in Hamilton Township, Adams County. This acquisition adds nearly 140 residential water customers to York Water’s expanding customer base.

Due to elevated levels of naturally occurring gross alpha radiation, the water supply source for the Pine Run Community was not consistently meeting safe drinking water standards. York Water has extended nearly 14,000 feet of ductile iron water main to connect the Pine Run Community to York Water’s fully filtered source of supply.

The investment made by York Water to extend the water main not only provides safe and reliable water to the residents of the Pine Run Community, but also will provide public water and public fire protection access to the future home of the East Berlin Area Community Center (EBACC).
